We’re so happy to have you here with us! We are Myles and Samara Nystrom.. the passionate globetrotters and adventurers behind FCWorldTravel.com. We’re freelance writers and content creators who share a love for combining family and adventure travel.
We believe that adventure and family travel are not mutually exclusive - and we’re here to prove it!
As we’ve grown, so have our adventures. We both started out as solo travelers individually exploring Europe and Southeast Asia. When we met in 2014 we continued to travel as a couple for many years. Now that we have a family, our adventures haven’t stopped.
With a backpack full of experience and hearts eager to explore, we’re here to provide you with all the best destination guides, travel tips, and a whole lot of travel inspiration to help fuel your wanderlust and inspire your next adventure. Whether you’re setting out for some solo travel or are packing along the whole family, we’ve got you covered.
We take our jobs as your virtual expedition leader seriously and have made it our mission to not only tell you that it’s possible to travel with a family, but show you that it’s a great way to raise your kids!
Kids don’t have to slow your adventures down, quite the opposite in fact.
We travel the world with kids in tow whether it’s through the streets of Thailand or on a 6 month American road trip.
As our travel besties, we see you as an extension of our family and want to bring you along on all our adventures. Watch our family grow and see all the new places we go and adventures we have as we jump from one thrilling journey to the next.

We have many things that make up our Freedom. These are things that make us feel happy and connected to ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
What does Freedom look like to us? Freedom is not just a word, it’s a lifestyle. It’s the ability to choose how we live, where we go, and what we do. Freedom is chasing our dreams and living our best lives. That’s what freedom looks like to us. What does it look like to you?
Our Freedom
Traveling is no doubt on the top of this list. In total, we have traveled to 25 countries as solo travelers, couple travelers and now family travelers. Over the years one thing has stayed consistent…we’re always looking for the next adventure!
We share a love for food. One of our favorite parts of traveling is getting to eat our way through all the countries we travel to.. and of course nothing goes better with food than an ice cold beer!
Scuba diving is hands down one of our favorite ways to spend the day. Exploring all the life underwater is both exhilarating and completely meditative. We make it our mission to go scuba diving in every country we visit. Samara’s life mission is to go scuba diving with sharks – her favorite animal!
It’s no secret we LOVE a good road trip. We lived vanlife for about 3 years driving 120,000 km (75,000 miles) around North America, we’ve spent a month driving around Mexico and a month driving around Wales, Scotland, and England on a UK road trip. Road trips make for the best family vacations.
If you don’t see us on the road, you’ll find us in the mountains. Hiking is one of our favorite activities to do as a family. Whether we’re climbing mountains in Canada or through rice fields in Vietnam, we love getting lost in the great outdoors.
Gardening is a form of therapy for us. Being able to grow our food and feed our family healthy homegrown whole foods is so important to us. Food tastes different when you grow it yourself.
We love the water – whether we’re splashing in it or soaring above it! Spending the day paddling on the water is easily one of our favorite activities. From finding backwoods lakes in BC to kayaking in the ocean in The Philippines, we love kayaking.
Being able to escape into the forest, find a secluded spot entirely on our own, and connect with nature is our purest form of freedom. Camping is our great escape whether we’re bush camping on an overnight hike in Thailand or in the deserts in Moab.
There’s nothing quite like that feeling you get when your tires hit dirt going off roading. We love getting some mud on the tires and taking our rig places it has no business going – from exploring the Canadian outback to getting lost in the Scottish Highlands. Finding a secluded spot in the middle of nowhere is one of our best ways to clear our heads and connect with nature.
